1 cup warm water
Scant 1 tbsp salt
2 pkg yeast
5-6 cups flour
2 tsp sugar
4 eggs
1 cup margarine/butter
raisins, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Sprinkle yeast over warm water in large bowl, stir to soften and get bubbly. Add sugar, margarine, salt, 1½ cups flour, 3 eggs and 1 egg white (reserve 1 yolk). Add enough remaining flour to make a soft dough and knead 6-8 minutes. Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise until double (1 hr). Punch down and divide in half. Divide each half into three pieces and form each into a 12 inch rope. Place 3 on greased pan and braid. Repeat with the second half and place on top of first braid. Cover and rise 1 hour. Brush with yolk and tbsp water. Bake in preheated 400º oven for approx. 25 minutes.

Raisins are optional.
