1 c. granulated sugar
1 stick butter, softened
1 egg

2 c. flour + extra for rolling

1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. red food coloring
1/4 tsp. blue food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl cream together sugar and butter. Add egg and vanilla and mix thoroughly. Add flour, baking powder and salt and mix until cookie dough forms. Divide cookie dough into 3 parts. Color one part blue and another part red. Knead each part to ensure they're completely tinted. Cover each dough in its own plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour..
Remove dough from refrigerator and let sit for about 5 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375degrees.
Break off cookie dough into small separate spheres about 2 inches in size. Press the different colors together, alternating colors. Sprinkle a rolling pin with flour and also a surface for rolling. Roll out this tri-colored combination until about 1/2 in. thick . Cut with star cookie cutter and place about an inch apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 6-7 mins.
To re-roll dough, be sure to keep colors in separate spheres.
Cool on wire rack.

Personal Notes:
These are really fun to do. Don't be afraid because they are more logical than it might sound. Just be sure you pinch the three rolls together before you roll and cut the cookies. I rolled them in my hand into big ropes of dough and then pressed them together.
