2 28 oz. cans of baked beans, original style
1 large onion, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
Several slices of bacon to cover dish

Directions:

Grease 2 quart ceramic casserole dish. Empty the 2 cans of beans into the dish. Layer the ingredients on top in the order given. Put the onion slices on, spread the brown sugar on, spread the ketchup on and then cover with the raw strips of bacon.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until bacon is cooked.

Rita made this many times for dinner, and for special occasions. It was a favorite.

This is my favorite recipe for baked beans. It is so simple yet the ingredients go together well and I never get tired of it.
