2 1/4 C All-Purpose Flour
1 15 oz. jar Applesauce
1 1/4 C Sugar
2/3 C Shortening
1/3 C Milk
2 Eggs
2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
1/2 tsp Ground Cloves
1 C Raisins (more or less)
1/2 C Walnuts (optional)

Confectioners' Sugar (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grease & flour a 13 x 9 in. pan.

Into large mixing bowl, measure all ingredients, except raisins, nuts, & confectioners' sugar. Beat at low speed until just mixed, constantly scraping the bowl; turn up mixer to high speed & beat for 3 min., occasionally scraping the sides.

Stir in raisins & nuts.

Pour batter into pan & bake 40- 45 min. until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Cool in pan on wire rack. It desired, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.*
