1 cup (2 sticks margarine or butter) softened
½ cup sifted confectioner (powdered) sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups flour
½ cup finely chopped walnuts
2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips (divided)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Beat butter and powdered sugar together in large bowl until creamy. Beat in vanilla extract. Gradually add flour and mix well together. You may knead dough with your hands or mixing spoon until well blended. Add 1 ½ cups of chocolate chips and mix well.

Refrigerate dough for about 30 minutes.

On ungreased cookie sheets, roll dough into log shapes about 2 inches long. Place side by side on the cookie sheets. Bake in oven for about 12-14 minutes until lightly browned on the bottom. Cool on a rack.

In a microwavable bowl, melt the remaining chocolate chips and approx. 3 tbs. of margarine. Finely chop ½ cup of nuts.

Dip cookies at each end in melted chocolate and then into the nuts.
Place on wax paper to set.

Yield: appox. 4 ½ dozen
