Directions:Add yeast mixture to the sugar/egg mixture-mix well.
Slowly add and mix in flour 2 cups at a time, kneading until you have a smooth dough - add a bit more flour if it's sticky.
Put the dough into a well oiled bowl - cover with a clean tea towel and let it rise until doubled in size (approx. 1 hour)
Punch the dough down and form into loaves or buns - put into well oiled loaf pans or on a well oiled cookie sheet...let them rise again for approx 1 hour.
Bake loaves at 350' for 30 - 40 minutes. Bake buns at 350' for 15 - 20 minutes
When they are golden brown and hot, brush the tops with a mixture of 1/4 cup water and 1 egg yolk for a glossy finish.

Notes: I remember spending summers in Emerson when Nanny would have a weekly bread baking day out in the old cookhouse. The smell and taste of hot, fresh bread topped off with butter brought us kids running for lunch when the town siren let us know it was noon...wonderful memories.
