Topsy Turvy Apple Pie Recipe

1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tbsp. margarine or butter melted
1 tbsp. corn syrup
1/4 cup pecan halves
1 15 oz pkg ref. pie crust, softened

filling:
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
4 cups thinly sliced and peeled apples
2 tbsp. flour

In 9 inch glass pie pan, combine brown sugar, margarine, corn syrup and mix well. Spread evenly in bottom of pan. Arrange pecans over mixture in pan. Place first pie crust in pan over pecans but lining the pie plate up the sides. Heat oven to 425 degrees.

In small bowl combine sugar, flour, and cinnamon, mix well. Arrange 1/2 of apple slices in crust lined pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 of sugar mixture. Repeat with remaining apples and sugar.Top with second crust. Seal edges and flute. Cut slits in several places in top of crust.

Place pie pan on sheet of foil in oven rack. Bake at 425 degrees for 8 min. Reduce oven temp. to 350 degrees. Bake an additional 35-45 min, or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.

Immediately run knife around edge of pie to loosen. Carefully invert pie on to serving plate. Serve warm or cool.

This recipe was given to me by my friend Barb Schriner in Colorado Springs and is possibly the best apple pie on earth!
