1 cup butter (do not use Crisco)
1-1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
3 eggs
2-1/2 cups unbleached flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla

2 lbs pitted dates cut in thirds
4 slices candied pineapple, cut up
1/2 lb candied cherries, cut in half (use red and green if available)

1 cup shelled whole filberts or hazelnuts
1 cup walnut pieces
1 cup pecan pieces

Directions:

Mix together the fruits and nuts before adding to the batter.

Cream softened butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Add flour, soda, cinnamon. Add fruits and nuts. Drop by teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350º.
