4 cups sifted flour
1 Tablespoon sugar
1½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 Tablespoon vegetable shortening
1 envelope dry yeast
⅓ cup warm water, 105-115 degrees
1¼ cup milk scalded and cooled to room temp

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour, sugar, salt and baking powder in large bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles course meal. Dissolve yeast in warm water and let stand until foamy (10 minutes) Stir into cooled milk. Make well in center of dry ingredients, and then add yeast mixture and stir until dough forms. Transfer to well floured surface and knead 15-18 times.

Cover dough and let rest at room temp (10 minutes). Roll out dough to thickness of ¼ inch. Cut in squares or triangles. Melt shortening. Fry on both sides 2-3 minutes. Serve warm.
