Notes: My mother, Margaret Eade, was an excellent cake baker. She won many prizes at the Washington County Fairs over the years, but recipes for those cakes cannot be found. Friends and neighbors remember those delicious cakes that she baked and took to birthday celebrations and other meal time gatherings. In December of 1994 I met a long-time neighbor of mother's who identified herself to me in the grocery store and recalled her appreciation of the delicious cakes that Mother always brought to the birthday celebrations.
I was caused to reflect upon just how often individual contributions are lost just because we fail to record them. This collection of recipes is presented, in part, to prevent that from happening with some of the foods that our family has enjoyed.
