½ cup Crisco
3 cups sugar
1 package German Sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
5 eggs
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon flavoring
¼ tsp. almond flavoring
1 cup pecans

Beat oleo and Crisco with sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well after each. Add melted chocolate. Mix. Add flour and baking powder alternately with buttermilk. Add flavoring and nuts. Bake in a 10 inch tube pan that has been greased and floured at 325º for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

This is a chocolate variation of the very popular pound cake. Note that the recipe adds a "b" to milk which would indicate buttermilk instead of regular milk. It could be that Ms. Coleman added it, or that Lois added it later. Either buttermilk or sweet milk should work. This cake most probably starts in a cold oven since preheating is not mentioned. Ms. Coleman signed and dated this card. The date was 9/6/93.
