1 lb. chopped round steak
1/2 lb. butter
1 c. flour
1/2 gal. water
Black pepper to taste
4 Tbsp. beef granules
1 large carrot, diced
1 medium onion, diced
1 stalk celery, diced
1 pkg. frozen mixed vegetables
1/2 (No. 303) can tomatoes

Make sauce out of melted butter and flour; gradually add 2 cups water. Stir until smooth, then add the other ingredients, except chopped steak. Set aside. Saute meat in 2 Tbsp. butter until brown; drain. Add meat to sauce and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 1 1/2 hours or until vegetables are tender. Makes 1 gallon. Do not use salt. Can be frozen. If thicker sauce is desired, add more flour and butter mixture.
