4 cups flour, sifted
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup butter or margarine, (Grandma used lard)
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup sour cream (or sour milk)
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:

Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
Mix eggs and sugar and blend well. Stir in vanilla and sour cream.
Add flour mixture until well blended. Divide dough into three balls
and wrap each one with plastic wrap so it won't dry out. Refrigerate
until ready to roll out.
Sprinkle flour on to counter top or table. Take out 1 ball of dough from
refrigerator at a time. Using a rolling pin, roll out dough to about 1/4 inch thick,
(Grandma used snuff glass as a cookie cutter) Lightly grease cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

*** Soft fluffy cookies.
