"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali

1 Block of Cream Cheese, softened
1 Can of Refried Beans
1-2 Cups of Shredded Mexican or Taco-Flavored Cheese
1 Jar of your Favorite Salsa - I prefer mild to appeal to all appetites

1 Packet of Taco Seasoning

One Bag of your favorite Tortilla Chips

1 Pie Plate, Sprayed with Pam to reduce sticking

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

Spray your pie plate with Pam

Fry the ground beef, drain it, and season it with the taco seasoning, as per the package directions.

Spread the cream cheese into the bottom of the pie pan.

Spread the refried beans over the cream cheese, distributing evenly.

Layer the seasoned ground beef over the bean/cream cheese layers, distributing evenly.

Sprinkle half of the cheese over the beef mixture.

Layer the salsa over the beef, distributing evenly.

Top the dish with the remaining cheese.

Bake the dish in the oven until the dish is hot and bubbly and the cheese is melted. You might need to cover it with foil initially to avoid excessive browning of the cheese. Remove the foil after 15-20 minutes.

Personal Notes:
This is an easy appetizer that takes no time to assemble. It needs to be served hot out of the oven, so if you take it to a party, give the hostess notice that you'll need to borrow the oven.
