Directions:
Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually and continue to beat until fluffy. Add beaten eggs
and vanilla and beat until light. Sift flour, measure and sift again with dry ingredients. Add
dry ingredients, alternating with milk. Beat thoroughly after each addition. Fold in banana
pulp until well blended.
Pour into 2 greased cake layer pans and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

*** Mother always waited for cake to cool, then sliced fresh bananas and layered between the
cake layers, iced with a thin glaze made of confectioner's sugar and milk. Sometimes she
doubled this recipe for the Weaver Reunion and made several layers. Always top with glaze
over entire cake.

*** Very moist cake.
