3/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup molasses (full flavor)
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening, sugar, eggs and molasses and mix well. Add dry ingredients. Chill dough for an hour or two. Roll into 1 inch balls. Roll each ball in a bowl with granulated sugar, then place on cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
