1 1/2 C. Butter softened
1 C. Sugar
6 Eggs
4 C. All purpose Flour
1/2 Currants
1 C. finely chopped candied fruit
grated rind of 1 lemon
2 tbsp. brandy (optional)
8 oz can almond paste (1C.)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter gradually add sugar and beat until light. Add eggs beating after each. Fold in flour currants fruits, lemon rind and brandy. Spread 1 C. of mixture or enough to cover the bottom of 9" square pan lined with waxed paper. Roll out 1/2 of paste to form 9" square. Pt on top of batter. Layered batter 1/2 last rolled last layer of batter. Bake 350º about 1 hour
