2 cups warm water (test on inside of wrist)
1½ pkg of dry yeast
2 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp salt (scant)
2 Tbsp melted fat or oil (butter?)
6 to 6¼ cups flour (either sift or pile lightly in cup)

Directions:
Directions:
Soften yeast in ½ cup of the warm water.
Combine water, salt, shortening.
Add 2 cups of flour; stir well.
Add yeast and stir
Add flour to make moderately stiff dough.
Turn out on lightly floured surface.
Knead till smooth and satiny (about 8 minutes)
Place in greased bowl turning once to grease surface.
Cover with cloth and let rise till doubled in a warm place.
Punch down and let rise again.
Shape into 2 loaves of bread. Let rise until double.
Bake 15 minutes at 450º or 20 to 25 minutes at 375º.
