Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 sticks butter, softened
2 c sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 t vanilla
1 t baking soda
4 1/2 c sifted flour

Icing: 1/3 c butter
3/4 lb powdered sugar
1 t vanilla
3-4 T milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first 5 ingredients then gradually add flour mixing well as you go. Place in refrigerator for 2 hours or overnight. Roll dough onto floured surface to 1/4" thick. Cut into cookie shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 450º for only 5 minutes. Cookies will not seem quite done but do not overtake. They should not be brown at all. Cool completely.

You can freeze these and frost later or frost then freeze. Make sure completely cooled before frosting.

Frosting: Cream butter, sugar and vanilla, adding just enough milk to mix as you go and to make icing smooth enough so it doesn't run off cookies.
