Wonton Soup Recipe

Wontons:
1 lb. ground pork
1 green onion, chopped
1/2 tbsp. sesame oil
1 tbsp. soya sauce
1 egg
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
3/4 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. fresh ginger
1 tbsp. oyster sauce

Mix above ingredients well.

1 package wonton wrappers

Put 1/2 tsp. filling off centre on each wonton wrapper. Fold over at center. Gently press edges together. Fold in half lengthwise. Pull the 2 corners, one over the other and press them together with a little water.

Boil 3 quarts water. Add the wontons and bring to a boil. Wontons will float to the surafe. Add 1/2 cup cold water and bring to a boil again. When wontons float to the surface again, they are ready. Drain and serve.

Soup:

3 cups chicken broth
1 green onion, chopped
1 tbsp. soya sauce
1/2 tsp salt
White pepper to taste

Heat chicken broth. Add soya sauce salt and pepper. Gently drop cooled wontons into soup. Add the green and serve.

- to make shrimp wontons use cooked shrimp instead of pork.

- Wontons can be frozen after wrapping on baking trays. Cook in boiling water from frozen when you want to prepare ths soup.

- Add steamed vegetables, meat, shrimp etc. to bowls to make a heartier soup.
