Apple Dumplings Recipe

1 square 9x9 or 8x8 baking dish, greased

1 and ½ pie dough recipe or puff pastry cut into 4 large squares

4 medium size apples, peeled and cored (honey crisp, or favorite flavor)

white sugar

cinnamon

butter






Directions:

Pre-heat oven to 400º

Place each apple in center of a square

Fill apple cavity with sugar, and sprinkle cinnamon on top

Enclose the apple in dough

Dot the top with butter and sprinkle a little more cinnamon on top

Place all prepared apples in dish

Boil the following ingredients together and pour into bottom of baking dish surrounding apples:
1 cup sugar, 2 cups water, 1 Tablespoon butter, a dash of cinnamon.

Bake for 40 minutes.

This is one of the recipes from Grandma Goodman that doesn't have exact measurements. You will have to make your own call on many steps. While they are baking about half way thru, I use a baster and take some of the baking fluid and pour it over the top of each dumpling. Mmmmm good!
