2 cups plain flour
1 stick butter
1/2 cup crisco
2 cups sugar
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla


Icing:
Mix well:
1/4 cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
1 small can evaporated milk
1 stick butter

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each egg. Add vanilla. Mix in soda and buttermilk in batter. Add flour alternately with buttermilk, starting and ending with flour. Bake in 3 floured cake pans. Bake at 325 for 30-35 minutes.

Icing:
Mix well:
1/4 cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
1 small can evaporated milk
1 stick butter

Stir together in a medium saucepan over heat. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, add 2 tsp vanilla. Stir until thick enough to spread.
