For pastry use proportion:
1 cup Mazola or Wesson Oil
½ cup plus 1 tablespoon hot water. Mix.
Sift together flour (about 2 ½ cups)
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt.

Add to il and water, mix well. Add extra necessary flour for right consistancy.
Roll pastry about ¼ thick.
Put currants in ½ cup water so all currans are wet. Strain. Add ½ cup sugar and 2 teaspoons lemon juice. Mix well together. Place currents in center of pastry. Moisten edges and draw together over currants.
Roll out about ½ thick. Brush top with milk and sprinkle a little sugar on top.
Bake at 400 degrees
