5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 t salt
1 pound chilled vegetable shortening
1 egg
1 T white vinegar
cold water

Directions:
Directions:
1. Combine flour and salt in large bowl.
2. Cut in the full pound of shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal - I use my hands to do this.
3. Whisk egg with vinegar in 1 cup measure. Fill to the top with cold water. (1 cup)
4. Add this liquid to flour mixture and lightly mix.
5. Divide into 6-8 balls of dough. Or flatten into 4 inch discs.
6. Wrap in plastic and chill. Can be used immediately or frozen for future use.

A pie can be made quickly if there is frozen dough ready in the freezer.
This is a very tender, flaky crust.
You can add wheat germ to the flour mixture for a healthier crust.
