3 pounds beef roast, trimmed and cubed
1/2 cup flour for dredging
2 T vegetable oil
3 small onions, sliced
2 cups water
2 T Bisto
Pepper to taste
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed and rolled into a rectangle slightly larger than your dish

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º.
Dredge beef cubes in flour, then brown on all sides in oil.
Remove beef to plate and cover with foil.
Add onions to pan and sauté, scraping up all the brown bits from the bottom.
Return beef to the pan and add 1 cup water.
Simmer for 40 minutes until meat is tender.
In a separate bowl or measuring cup, combine remaining water and Bisto.
Mix well and add to simmering meat.
Stir until thickened.
Add pepper to taste.
Place an egg cup or shot glass upside down in the center of a 9 x 13 casserole dish.
Place beef into dish.
Place puff pastry over the dish, folding the dough over at the edges.
Bake for 30 minutes at 425º.
Reduce heat to 375º and bake an additional 30 minutes.
Cover pastry with foil if gets too dark during baking.
