Preheat oven to 425 degrees

1/4 cup Crisco
2 cups self rising flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 Tablespoon of butter to rub on top of cooked biscuits

Directions:
Directions:
Use a fork or a shortening blender to cut the Crisco into the flour until shortening is well spread through the flour.
Add the buttermilk and sti with a large spoon.. (Mixture will be very stickky)
Scrape the mixture onto a heavily floured surface. Flour your hands and fold the mixture to the middle turning the dough as you fold it . Keep folding the mixture over until it is no longer sticky and has a smooth, soft feel.
Roll out the dough, about an inch thick.
Use a biscuit cutter to cut the bisquits.
Place biscuits on a pan about a half inch apart.
Bake 10 minutes
Remove from oven and rub butter on top of the biscuits.
