"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
Kosher salt and black pepper
6 Tbsp olive oil
12 oz white button mushrooms, sliced
2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2 c. red wine or beef broth
2 c. low-sodium beef broth, plus more if needed
2 thyme sprigs
Several dashes of Worcestershire sauce

Directions:
Directions:
1. Form the ground beef into oval patties to resemble "steaks." Sprinkle both sides with salt and pepper.
2. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the burger patties and cook them on one side for about 3 minutes...
3. Then flip them over and cook them until no longer pink, another 2 to 3 minutes.
4. Remove them to paper towels
5. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the mushrooms. (Don't clean the skillet first! You want all that good stuff.)
6. Stir them around so that they're coated in all the flavor..
7. Sprinkle them with the flour...
8. And stir them around for about 2 minutes, letting the flour cook and the mushrooms start to brown.
9. Pour in the wine..
10. And stir the mixture, letting the wine bubble up and cook down, 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.
11. Pour in the beef broth
12. Strip the leaves off the thyme springs into the sauce
13. Reduce the heat to medium and cook the sauce, stirring occasionally, until it's nice and thick, another 3 minutes.
14. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce...
15. And it's ready! Place the hamburger steaks on plates
16. And spoon the sauce all over the top.
