Directions:
First, whip baking soda, sour cream, sugar, Crisco, and butter. Add eggs, molasses mixed with boiling water. When it is all well blended add dry ingredients. The dough must be fairly stiff - like a stiff cake dough. Put mixture in the refrigerator and let chill 3-4 hours. Take out with a teaspoon, form into a ball, press down a little on cookie sheet, and bake on greased cookie sheet at 350º for 10 minutes. Mixture should flatten during baking. The amount of flour depends on kind of flour, thickness of cream and size of eggs. The time of baking depends on the oven. Put on a higher rack because they burn easily. The first batch should be watched for temp and time. Use that theory for the rest of baking, but they still should be watched. Remove to waxed paper when taken from oven. When they have cooled to warm, frost. You can use the regular recipe for cooked egg white frosting, but I use a much quicker method that I invented when pressed for time. Use a wide bladed knife to spread on warm, not hot cookies. The frosting will harden and be nice and white. Who doesn't remember Grandma's Molasses Cookies? Heaven.
