1 (18.4-oz) pkg chocolate fudge brownie mix
2 cups sugar
1⅓ cups light corn syrup
⅔ cup butter, melted
4 large eggs
3 cups chopped pecans
¼ tsp salt
1 (16-oz) carton frozen whipped topping, thawed

Directions:

Bake brownies according to package directions. Cool completely.

Meanwhile, bring sugar, corn syrup, butter, eggs, nuts, and salt to a boil in a large saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; cool 1 hour.

Crumble brownies, reserving ⅓ cup for garnish. Layer remaining crumbled brownies, nut mixture, and whipped topping in a trifle dish or other serving bowl. Garnish with reserved brownie crumbles. Store trifle, covered, in refrigerator.
