Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef (or other meat you can ground up)
1/2 medium onion chopped
4 cups mashed potatoes (left over or fresh)
2 cups vegetable of choice (green beans, peas, peas and carrot) Just make sure your vegetable is not wet
2 cups grated or shredded cheese of choice (sharp cheddar is my preference)
Garlic chopped (optional)
Salt
Pepper
1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
non-stick spray

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat over to 350 degrees.

In a skillet cook ground beef, when almost done add onion, garlic, salt and pepper to taste, and worcestershire sauce. Simmer for about 15 minutes until most of the moisture is gone from skillet.

Make or use left over mashed potatoes, set aside

Prepare vegatables "aldente" since they will finish cooking in the oven. Remove all moisture, set aside.

Spray a baking or casserole dish with non-stick spray.
This is a layered casserole.
Pour meat into dish, cover meat with vegetable, then mashed potatoes, top with cheese.

If using foil and a baking dish, spray foil with non-stick spray and cover. If using a casserole dish, spray thelid with non-stick spray. This will prevent the chees from pulling off of the pie when you take the foil or lid off!

Bake in the 350 degree oven for about 30-45 minutes. You will know when it's done when you see the meat and juices bubbline up the side of the dish. The cheese should be melted. Remove the foil or lid and bake another 5-10 minutes or until the cheese has a crust but is still melted and gooey underneath.

Personal Notes:
This is one of my favorite meals to make. Whenever I have left over mashed potatoes I try to make the pie. If you freeze left over mashed potatoes you can use them, just make sure they are fully defrosted and not too moist. I made this a lot when you were kids. It's got all your favorites.. hamburger, potato, green beans and cheese...almost like a McDonalds meal ! It keeps for a few days and makes great left overs. You can make them in small loaf pans and freeze them for later too!
