1 large head cabbage
1 lb lean ground beef
1 c cooked rice
1 onion, chopped
1 (or 2) eggs, slightly beaten
1 t salt
½ t allspice
Dash garlic powder
1 (11 oz) can sauerkraut, drained
2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce or tomato juice
¼ c packed brown sugar
Sour cream, if desired

Core cabbage. Boil in 2 inches boiling water until tender. Combine beef, rice, onion, eggs, allspice and garlic. Roll up in cabbage leaves. In a large baking pan, combine sauerkraut, ½ tomato sauce, and brown sugar. Place cabbage rolls seam side down in sauerkraut. Pour remaining tomato sauce over rolls. Bake covered at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Serve with sour cream, if desired. (Lydia Hopp gave this recipe to Georgia and Stan (Skip) Miller on September 20, 1981.)
