5 T butter
1/3 c flour
3 1/2 c milk (whole or 2%)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/8 tsp nutmeg

Melt butter over med-low heat
Whisk in flour to make a roux
Cook and continue stirring 2 min
Gradually add milk stirring constantly to prevent sticking and cook until thickened.

You can use this sauce for a number of things. Add parmesan cheese! i use this in lasagna to balance the tomato sauce
