2 sticks of margarine or butter, softened
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
½ cup sugar
2 eggs
2 T. milk
2 t. vanilla
1 ¾ cups flour
1 t. baking soda
½ t. salt (optional)
2 ½ cups Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
2 cups (12 oz.) semi sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º.
In a large bowl, beat margarine and sugars until creamy.
Add eggs, milk, and vanilla, beat well.
Add flour, baking soda and salt, mix well.
Add oats, chocolate chips, and nuts (if desired), mix well.
Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 9-10 minutes for a chewy cookie or 12-13 minutes for a crisp cookie.
Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack.
Cool completely.
Store in tightly covered container.

To make bars:
Press dough onto bottom of ungreased 9x13 baking pan.
Bake 30-35 minutes or until light golden brown.
Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
Cut into bars.
Store in tightly covered container.
