! cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
2 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
5 large eggs
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp.baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts, if desired

Directions:
Directions:
remove all lumps from the brown sugar. in large bowl cream butter and shortening. Add sugars and cream again. Add eggs. Sift dry I ingredients and add alternately with milk.Add vanilla and nuts. Bake in large greased and floured tube pan for 1 1/4 hours. Cool in pan.
