Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 lbs. thinly shredded cheddar cheese - I prefer mild
1 stick butter - never margarine
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
4 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix grated cheese, (because I know you won't buy block cheese and grate it yourself lol) butter, salt, and cayenne together. Gradually add flour and salt. You can place in a cookie press and bake on an ungreased cookie sheet or you can press into a mold and make pretty pieces individually. Bake on an for 10 minutes at 350º . Use a spatula to get off of hot pan and let cool.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Older recipes call for you to grate your own cheese because cheese is less expensive in blocks. Todays generation does not understand why we, our parents, and grandparents always did things the hard way but it wasn't because we necessarily enjoy it, it's because we had to make what little money we earned last for food, gas, clothing, housing, and medical. There was rarely any left over for what our kids consider "fun". We were just glad when a weeks paycheck covered the bare necessities. I hope none of my future generations have to know what watching your money that closely feels like but in a way, if everyone experienced that at least once in their life, they may appreciate the value of a dollar a little more. Regardless, I hope all of you live prosperously, and at least try these recipes to experience the types of foods we enjoyed growing up. Half the fun was getting to help make them...Bev
