3 cups flour
3 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. anise extract
1 cup ground almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Then beat in eggs one at a time.
Mix in dry ingredients then add anise and almonds.
Shape dough into rolls, 7 or 8" long and ½" wide. Arrange on baking sheet 2" apart.
Bake about 20 minutes until fairly brown and the color of ivory.
Remove from oven and while still hot slice rolls crosswise on the bias at 1/2-inch intervals. Raise the oven temp to 400 degrees. Bake in the oven for 2-3 minutes. Remove at once and cool on a wire rack.
