1 cup of sugar

2 tbsp. flour rounded

2 tbsp. cocoa heaping

3 egg yolks

1 cup milk

1 tbsp. butter

1 tsp. vanilla

pinch of salt


3 egg whites

tsp cream of tarter

5 tbsp. sugar

tsp. vanilla

Follow directions on mixer for making meringue.


In a saucepan mix together sugar, flour, cocoa and salt.
Add egg yolks to mixture one at a time along with milk.
Stir until dry ingredients are absorbed.
Put saucepan on burner on medium and add the butter.
Cook slowly and stir to avoid lumps.
Cook until thick. Beating any lumps that form.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Pour into prepared pie crust.
Add meringue and bake at 350.
10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
