1/2 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
4 cups chopped, peeled apple

Directions:
Directions:
Stir shortening to soften; gradually add sugar, creaming till light. Add eggs; beat until light and fluffy.

Sift flour, measure and sift again with spices, baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture, blend, then mix in chopped apples. Mixture will be very thick. Spread in greased 9 x 13 inch cake pan.

Bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until done. Serve warm with Hot Butter Sauce.

HOT BUTTER SAUCE - Place following ingredients in a medium sauce pan, and cook over a medium heat.
1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup melted butter, 1/2 cup evaporated milk, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Stir all together and keep stirring until all mixed (5 minutes)
