½ c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. dark Karo syrup
½ tsp. salt
3 eggs
1 ½ tsp. vanilla
2 c. coarsely chopped pecans
1 pastry shell

Directions:
Directions:
Allow butter to stand in mixing bowl until extremely soft. Add sugar, syrup, salt, and vanilla. Beat until thoroughly blended. Add eggs, beat gently until blended. Fold in pecans. Pour in pastry shell. Bake in 350º oven on middle rack until top is toasty brown and filling is set in center, about 40 minutes. If top of pie gets too brown toward the end of baking, place tin foil over the pie.

This is the pie my mother always made at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I now carry on the family tradition and make the pie for the holidays.
