2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 stick butter or margarine
4 Tbs cocoa
½ cup shortening
1 cup water
½ cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs slightly beaten
Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour and sugar together.
In saucepan, bring to boil, margarine, cocoa, shortening and water.
Pour over flour and sugar mixture.
Add buttermilk, baking soda, vanilla and eggs.
Beat on medium speed until thoroughly mixed.
Pour into greased and floured cake pan.
Bake at 375º for 30 minutes.
Mix icing about 5 minutes before cake is done.
 

Chocolate Icing
Ingredients:  
Ingredients:  
1 stick butter or margarine
4 Tbs cocoa
6 Tbs milk
2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup pecans
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Bring to boil butter, cocoa and milk.
Remove from heat and add powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts.
Beat well and pour over hot cake.
