Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add scalded milk. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast dissolved in water (1/4 cup). Add 2 pints of flour and blend to smooth batter. Let stand until double in bulk. Then add salt, soda and baking powder; blend. Add enough flour to form a stiff dough. Knead. Place in 2 large greased bowls. Cover and place in refrigerator to chill. Will keep 2 weeks and use as needed. When ready to use, knead, cut and brush with melted butter. Fold and pinch edges together and place in greased pan. Brush top with butter and let rise until double. Bake at 450 degrees (10 to 15 minutes) until golden brown. May be baked, cooled and frozen for later use.
