¾ c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
¼ c. molasses
1 egg
2¼ c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, brown sugar, molasses and egg until fluffy.
Sift together dry ingredients, stir into molasses mixture.

Form into small balls. Roll in sugar; place 2 in. apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º 12 minutes.
