1-¼ c. flour
1-½ t. baking powder
½ t. salt
⅓ c. butter
2 sq. (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate
1 c. sugar

⅛ t. salt
½ c. sugar

Directions:
Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt. Melt butter and chocolate together over low heat. Cool. Beat in sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla. Blend four mixture into chocolate mixture alternating with milk, beating well after each addition. Stir in nuts. Pour into well-greased 9" round pan. Bake in 350º oven 30-35 minutes, or until done. Let stand 10 minutes before removing from pan. Cool completely.

Meanwhile, soften ice cream; line 1-½ quart round bottom bowl (7" in diameter) with foil. Press ice cream into bowl and freeze until firm, at least 2-3 hours.

To prepare meringue, beat egg whites and ⅛ t. salt together until frothy. Gradually add ½ c. sugar, a tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff and glossy.

To assemble, place brownie base on wooden board or baking sheet. Top with prepared ice cream and peel off foil. Working quickly, cover completely with meringue, sealing edges well. Bake on lowest rack in 450º oven 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve immediately.
