1 3/4 cups enriched cornmeal
1/4 cup sifted all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 small onion chopped
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 egg beaten

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt and sugar; stir in onion.
Add Milk and egg, mixing only until dry ingredients are moistened.
Drop batter by Teaspoons into hot deep fat (375 degrees), frying only a few at time until golden
Brown.

Drain on absorbent paper.

Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
