1 qt vinegar
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 pint water
1/4 cup canning salt

Directions:
Directions:
Bring to a boil. Put dill in bottom of jars. Cut cucumbers in slices or spears. Pack in jars, Add 1 clove garlic and slices of onion. Add pinch of alum. More dill on top . Add hot vinegar solution and seal. Place jar in canner of hot water and bring to a boil. Remove from stove. Leave jars in kettle overnight to cool.
