½ cup butter or margarine
1 ¾ cups sweetened applesauce
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 t. salt
1 t. baking soda
1 t. cinnamon
½ t. nutmeg
¼ t. ground cloves
1 cup raisins or chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.
In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
Remove from heat.
Blend in remaining ingrediants, stirring until well combined.
Pour batter into 9 inch square or 11x17 inch pan which has been greased on bottom only.
Bake 30-35 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched in center.
Serve warm or cool, plain or with whipped cream.

Apple or pumpkin pie spice may be used for cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves-use 2 teaspoons.
