1 tbsp. yeast
½ cup warm water
1 tsp. sugar
4 beaten eggs
½ cup sour cream
4½ cups flour
½ pound lard or margarine
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt

Fillings:
Sauerkraut, washed and fried with lots of onions OR meat fill:
1 onion, diced
1½ pounds ground beef
1 tsp. minced garlic
1 tsp. beef and steak rub
½ tsp. salt and pepper to taste
1 cup mashed potatoes (about 3 medium potatoes)

Add the sugar to the warm water and sprinkle the yeast over and let stand 5 - 10 minutes. Add the beaten eggs and sour cream to yeast.
In a separate bowl mix the flour, 2 tbsp. sugar and salt together, cut in the lard or margarine like making pastry, add the blended liquids to the flour mix and and knead with extra flour if needed to make a soft, pliable dough. Store in the fridge.

Meat Filling:
Saute the onion, garlic and beef with the spices. When browned, add the mashed potatoes.

Roll out the dough and cut out 3 inch rounds. Put about 1½ tsps filling in and pinch the dough over the filling to form oblongs. Place on a greased baking sheet and brush with oil.
Bake in 400º oven for 18 minutes.
