Sift:
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp soda

Blend together:
1 1/3 cups sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs (beaten)

Add:
1/2 cup sour milk (note: 3/4 cup milk and 1 tsp vanilla makes sour milk)
1 cup mashed bananas
1/2 cup nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Cherry Frosting:
1/2 cup shortening
pinch of salt
1 box powdered sugar
1 egg (do not use all the white)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour add salt, baking powder, soda and sift again. Cream together butter, sugar, add eggs and flour a little at a time until fluffy, and add milk. Add bananas, mix real good, then add nuts and vanilla. Blend until smooth Bake at 375º for 30 minutes.

Cherry Frosting:
Blend shortening, salt and egg until creamy, add powdered sugar a little at a time and add cherries and some cherry juice until desired spreading consistency.
