3 egg whites
¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
1 cup sugar
16 crushed soda crackers
½ cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon almond or vanilla extract.
Whipped cream
Crushed pineapple or strawberries

Directions:
Directions:
With an electric mixer, beat egg whites on high until bubbly. Add teaspoon cream of tartar and beat until it stands in peaks. Continue beating, adding sugar very slowly, and beat one minute. Fold in crushed soda crackers, walnuts and extract. Put in well-buttered pie plate, and bake 25-35 minutes at 325°. Serve with whipped cream and crushed pineapple or strawberries.
You can double the recipe and bake in a 9x13-inch pan.
