2 Cups Butter
2 Cups White Sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 Cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1 Cup Chopped Almonds (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
2. In a heavy saucepan combine butter, sugar, and salt. Cook on medium heat stirring until melted. Allow to come to a boil, stirring occasional. Cook until temp reaches hard crack stage (300ºf), mixture will turn a dark amber color.
3. As soon as the mixture reaches the hard crack stage pour onto baking sheet.
4. Immediately top with chocolate chips then with a rubber spatula or butter knife, gently spread the chocolate chips (they will melt from the heat of the candy). Top with almonds if desired.
5. Place in refrigerator to set.

You will need a candy thermometer for this recipe. Most of them will say on it the temp for hard crack. It's important to cook this to the hard crack temperature or you will get toffee that sticks to your teeth and is less enjoyable to eat (esp. if you have dental work).
